Page was written,
directed and produced by me for the Graduate Diploma in Film and
Television at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1998. It was
created in Macromedia Director 6, and published on CD-ROM. Home
Page won the West Australian Screen Award 2000
for "Animation and New Media", was a Finalist in both
the 1999 Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association
Awards, and the 2000 Australian Teachers of Media Awards.
Home
Page is a sharp satire on suburban life and Internet romance.
Embedded in a parody web browser, the user visits the Internet
home page of Nick Buncie, a 20 year old university student. Through
the pages of his web site, we meet Nick's family and friends in
text, video and animation. By accessing Nick's email through the
mock web browser, we trace his inept attempts to impress two girls
he meets through the Internet. Meanwhile, while Nick plays out
his fantasies on the Net, a series of personal disasters unfold
in the real world around him, ending in hilarious chaos for Nick
and his family.

| Getting
a taste of Home Page
In its design,
Home Page parodies the visual hotchpotch of a typical
personal website. There are a number of sections in this mock
website, each telling us something about Nick, his interests,
his friends, and the people (and the pet!) in his family. To get
a feel for the style and content of Home Page,
visit the HOME
PAGE Sampler.
